the Midnight Potter
Jenny Ditto is a lifelong Alaskan, born and raised in Anchorage. She first experienced wheel throwing at Anchorage West High School, from teacher Becky Voris, then continued at UAF, Fairbanks, and ACC/UAA, Anchorage. After many years of fine tuning her skills, she opened Midnight Potter Studios to continue teaching her best techniques and skills to the wonderful people of her home town, where she presents her own curriculum & teaching style for successful wheel thrown pottery in as few months as possible. She also offers group workshops for making hand print tiles and leads Raku Firing workshops.
She is gathering people together who support creating a cooperative workspace facility utilizing art mediums in clay, metal, and glass to be located in midtown Anchorage. 100% of her pottery sales go towards current & future artistic facility developments. Your purchase today also supports donations she makes of her pottery to non-profit fund-raising organization that support Anchorage’s community. When you support her efforts, you help support Anchorage’s community & cultural development.
She uses recycled materials in her studio and accepts donations of needed materials. She supports Bean’s Café via the Annual Empty Bowl Project by donating more than 100 bowls made in the studio by her or from offering skilled potters free clay & studio wheel time. She donates larger works bi-annually to KAKM–PBS Annual Art Auction on ch. 7, and Anchorage’s Museum of History & Art Gala, while other donations of art or time are made to the American Lung Assn. of Alaska, Anchorage Cooperative Preschool, Alpenglow at Arctic Valley, Polaris K-12 Alternative School, Nana-Colt Inc. and the United Way of Anchorage.
Her works are functional for kitchen & bath, and decorative for home or personal wear. She works with mid-range porcelain & stoneware clays, low-fire ceramic & raku clays. Her works include bowls, mugs, soap dishes, utensil crocks, beads & buttons, rectangle trays, flower vases, and raku jars & vases. Thanks for your support!
